Bob, stop being so Texan.

Rads, even if I owned a t.v., why would I have watched that?

Lastly, Eric Burdon is definitely killing it, and so is Colin Bluntstone of The Zombies. Original keys of everything. What an asshole.

From his MusiCares speech a few weeks ago:

Dylan Wrote:
Sam Cooke said this when told he had a beautiful voice: He said, “Well that’s very kind of you, but voices ought not to be measured by how pretty they are. Instead they matter only if they convince you that they are telling the truth.”

It's a good read if anyone missed it:

Many ways to answer - those who still approximate their pipes at their prime, or at least have experience to compensate for loss of physical capacity: Mavis Staples, Aretha, Brian Wilson, Nash and/or Crosby, Cohen (soon to be 80), Willie Nelson (83), and the point furthest on the two axes of beauty and age: Tony Bennett (88!). (And though dead for more than ten years, nothing will match Celia Cruz' power after age 70).

I just heard Duquesne Whistle recently, and it's exactly what you describe... he's basically croaking into a microphone, but holy hell is it compelling.

If George Strait wasn't only 62, you'd probably find yourself incredibly conflicted. You know, as a Texan.

I'm going to see Willie in a few weeks. I've heard from several that he's really lost a lot, voice wise, in the past few years. I'll bring back a five word report.

So a couple of friends in Chicago opened up for Leon Russell last night. He's over 70.

Apparently his monitor guy sends his in ear monitor mix at +135dB.

http://www.decibelcar.com/menugeneric/87.html

so you can get a feel for how loud his mix is at all times.

And he's still going.

That's rock and roll.

DEFINITELY not Elton. He can't hit the broadside of a barn these days.

I'm a white man upset with my lighter not working so I'm probably the topic of all of her songs such as "I don't care that you're right" and so on so I recant my previous choice of her

my good friend tina turner that is

Also I would like to re-admit Tina Turner for the case of the judging committee and all of the whites who grew up listening to her:
