Here's a photo of "These Elderberries Taste Like Elderberries" Pale Ale from Unknown Brewing Company.
Image

It was alright, a decent pale ale with subtle hint of flavor from the elderberry flower. I drank two, but the second one only because I helped brew it.

What was weird is there was no mention of it on their Twitter or even on the draft board at the brewery, so the only folks ordering it were the 9 or so folks with us. The more I think about it, it was just kind of a weird, throwaway experience that they offered up for a silent auction benefit last fall but maybe didn't think all the way through and possibly didn't want to do anymore when it came down to it. In any case, its still kinda cool that a beer I helped make was available at an actual brewery (even if I only basically provided unskilled labor help). I also added it to Untappd.

Sounds exactly right. They did something nice for charity, but it didn't go much beyond that... they didn't feel strongly enough about the final product to advertise its existence on social media, or even in their own taproom.

The funny thing is, their draft boards are projected onto the wall above their bar so all they had to do was edit a PowerPoint slide. Nothing like redrawing an entire chalkboard or anything labor intensive. Oh well.

No I think their thought process is fairly clear. This is a beer they'd like to go away quietly. Shit, man. Sounds like it would almost be more fun to just help them make one of their normal beers, and put a group shot of you guys on the sixpack holders or something.

Yea, you're right. Would just be nice if they made a gal feel special, ya know?

Exactly. There should be NOTHING about that experience that makes you guys feel awkward or bad. They didn't really think it through.
