i've been tasked with compiling a fun, hip playlist for an all day work activity next week and thought i'd pass the bucket around for suggestions on some new stuff. i don't want to make it 100% obscure indie wank, so any genre, any level of mainstream accessibility or lack thereof is fair game.

i need a couple of hours...

Lil Jon - Turn Down for What

Doesn't get much hipper than that.

"Shelter Song" by Temples is pretty approachable
"Moving To The Left" by Woods
"Saw You First" and "Up Up Up" by Givers
"TenTwentyTen" by Generationals
"Swimsuit" by Cayucas has the line "what the fuck" in it at one point but is great, or "Cayucos" or "High School Lover" by them, though that latter might offend the pearl-clutching set
"Dangerous" by Big Data is crackrock
"Shout It In 1" by Dirty Ghosts
"Color Decay" by Junius Meyvant is a perfect song, period
About half that last Johnny Marr album would work, esp. "Upstarts" or "Easy Money"
"Red Eyes" by War On Drugs

I should probably stop.

Whatever you put together, you should place some new Sonics in the middle of it just to remind people of the meaning of life.

"Pomp and Pride" by Toots & The Maytals always seems to make folks happy.
EDIT: But that's not new now, is it?

Justin Townes Earle, for the end of the set, when you want to mellow it out and get people to chill and go home.

Leon Bridges seems to be getting some traction here, but he's texan. Still, not a bad faux sam cooke rip off.
