I started a thread recently asking you guys if you were interested in doing Spotify playlist exchange and I've gotten a fairly good of responses so I thought we'd proceed.

The rules are simple.

- Playlists shouldn't be too long. 60 mins max.
- Theme: Our favorite songs of 2015
- No deadline. If this becomes a rolling thread, even better.

Once you've completed your playlist, post the link in this thread as well as a tracklist.

This is gonna be kinda tough, as a couple of my definite favorites are not on Spotify. At least not yet.
And those would most-likely be the songs that aren't going to be on most people's playlists. But… let's see how it shakes out.
Looking forward to this. Thanks for organizing it, OPA.

I started making one of these a few months ago.

I modified it a little just now and will change it more later as I hear more stuff, trying to keep it under an hour.

Now I just have to figure out when stuff was released.

I'm still building mine, and it will probably evolve a bit more as the year ends. Also, I am trying not to have more than one song from any give album. So, as it's NOT complete and won't be for some time, should I post the link at this point?

So, here is the link for the playlist as of 9/24:

I had this kind of playlist going in my iTunes library. I removed a lot of songs to keep it under 60 minutes and kept it to one song per artist.

https://open.spotify.com/user/121028413 ... AX2gMRmI6d

Track listing as of 9/25/15:

1. The Black Kat - Ike Reilly
2. Carolina - Royal Headache
3. Waste the Alphabet - Dick Diver
4. Blame - Diamond Rugs
5. Beautiful Now - The Waterboys
6. Ballad of the Mighty I - Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
7. The Kid Who Broke His Wrist - The Sidekicks
8. Foolin’ - Andrew Combs
9. Somebody That I Used to Know (Elliott Smith cover) - Seth Avett & Jessica Lea Mayfield
10. Gurdjieff’s Daughter - Laura Marling
11. Paying - Sarah Bethe Nelson
12. In Words - Marika Hackman
13. Love Philtre - The Church
14. Reality in Motion - Tame Impala
15. Island - Etiquette

That Church album technically came out in 2014 but I don't think it had a US release until 2015.

Mine is also an ever-changing work in progress - won't be "final" until 1/1/2016...

Mine is done, it's not a work in progress. You'll take what I got and like it! I will listen to all yours very soon!

No clue if this will work:

Thanks for this thread.

I've listened to far less new music this year than any in the last 15. I've found some gems here. Loving Ultimate Painting, Twerps and DRINKS. I have several more to listen to--cheers.

I've listened to a lot more. And, honestly, it's just a kinda so-so year.

I've listened to more new releases this year than in my entire life thanks to streaming. Was always too lazy to keep up with zip file downloads. While there are a lot of good albums there isn't really anything that is great. Solid albums but not future classics.

I've listened to less new music this year than I did in other recent years. I've been listening to a lot more old vinyl than new music. That said, I've had no problems finding 25-30 records that I really like. There's probably not anything that's hit me quite as hard as John Murry, Andrew Duhon or Daniel Romano did upon first discovering them but Kamasi Washington is pretty great. I don't see it as being much worse or better than any other recent year.

Yeah I've probably listened to the same amount of new music this year as I have the past few years, maybe a little less. Over the past five years or so, there seem to be fewer and fewer new albums that I really love or feel all that strongly about, good or bad, but I think that has more to do with me than what's out there.

I think I need to take a break from music, but probably the only way that would ever happen would be some kind of zombie apocalypse/Red Dawn type of situation or if I lost my hearing or something.

Yeah this Spotify thing has at least allowed me to uh... streamline the "just checking this out" process. Instead of jumping around to various blogs, scouring exy and d/ling a bunch of stuff, etc., I can just give it go via Spotify, or occasionally type in "Indie 2015" in the search box and fall in the wormhole.

It's possible that I may even catch up on the year. Possible, but not probable, given that I still have a bunch of old vinyl I want to listen to.
