Now mind you, I was mostly a lurker/reader both on the old CMJ and now on this board, and I thought often FnB's posts would be quirky and, well, unusually self-confident about his own tastes. But they were about music. They were filled with ideas about music. Analysis about music. Criticism in the most profound and meaningful sense. His posts exhibited something that is perhaps anachronistically sentimental in these days.... that music is important. Lifechangingly important.

Seeing his most recent post here in this thread, note how quickly it turns to talk about music... in an interesting and engaging way.

I miss interesting conversations about music, which is why I check out this board much less than the old CMJ. I miss reading FnB in the context where others challenge him... that made me think about music and buy music I might have missed.

As it were.

i skipped the last couple pages of this thread but here's my .02 on S-K. I think they've gotten better and better with each album. haven't heard the new one but i hope the trend continues.

I laughed at this album when it first leaked... but, upon further listens, I'm starting to come around.

spoke to him on ss recently. he doesn't get much outta this board anymore.

sa'll good, i still check his site from time to time.

I admire his restraint. I don't get much out of this board anymore either but I seem to be tougher for Loogar to drive away.

np: Artful Dodger "Honor Among Thieves" - this is better than I remembered. Thanks Radcliffe.
''

I let loogar drive me away for a while. i got to the point where i guess tony was, that i felt i wasn't getting anything out of this.

it's just too much fun though, to stay away.

this place would be better off with tony imo though.

BTW, he downgraded the SK to a 9+

He still hasnt had a 10 album since 2003, but the one thing that I dont care for is the way everything is at least an 8. Doesnt he listen to anything just awful that shouldnt get "lumped in with all the rest"?

I think its hilarious that I am blamed for "driving people away"

I just don't really enjoy pretention on any level and call it when I see it. If you can get driven off a message board by harsh commentary, I would hate to see what your work and home-life are like.

S/K is still teddible IMO...BLECH!

I've "gone at it" with several people on this board over the years. I'm still here, and, for the most part, so are they. I feel strongly enough about most of my opinions to voice them. Loogs wouldn't drive me away any faster than, say, monty, but he does take a lot of "ruined the board" crap.

As far as us not talking about music anymore, that's BS, too. Not one day have I come on here without learning about some new band, release, or other piece of music info that I didn't know. Now there's a little more spice added to the stew, and I like it that way.

"I had to sift through eight topics to find a mention of the new Elf Power. This board sucks. I'm leaving."

Quitcha whining. On with it.

well I see a lot more bullshit on this board and a lot less *informed* opinion- simply reading XXX suckz, or XXX is the best really doesnt help me much. Its a shame that people dont have skin thick enough to deal with the general chorus of assholes that inhibit both real life and the internet- that isnt to say that I think a lot of people say shit on here that they wouldnt have the balls to say to someone's face (I know, I know, *you* would say it to their face, right).

We can't all be as brutally honest as you, jocko.

Quit projecting and say what you mean.

I don't think that I've ever said something here that I wouldn't say to the person's face. Of course I don't really "go off" on people like some others do. I think that we're all a lot less likely to try to work though disagreements in a civil manner here when we can just hurl an insult, but I also think that's the nature of the internet in general. As far as informed opinion, I guess that depends on your definition of informed. I know most posters' musical tastes well enough that an "IT'S GREAT" or "IT SUX" can take me where I need to go. I do understand where you're coming from on that one, though.

I don't like the pretension either, and Fastnbulb had lots of that. But I think you probably drive people away with all the retarded words you bring here, which Monty in turn uses excessively.

Ah youre right my fault, lets try this - go fuck yourself. Hopefully that was both unprojected and grammatically simple enough to have gotten its message across.

If not let me know, and I can try again. And dont worry, I wont be driven away.
