Edit: I can say however that the Maximilian Hecker is great and likely right up your alley.

RIIL?

Its lush melancholic chamber pop with lots of piano. I can't think of a great riyl but maybe riyl: the chamber strings, sondre lerche, elliott smith, brenden gamble.

He's not a great songwriter though...the draw is beautifully composed songs.

I uploaded one song Anaesthesia

Not necessarily the best song but its the only one I have on my harddrive in mp3 format and it'll give you the sense of what he sounds like. Some other songs have more strings.

np: Maximilian Hecker "Lady Sleep"

You're right, billy, I like it. Thanks for the recommendation. Did you have to buy the import?

Unfortunately, yes. I don't think he ever got domestic distribution of his last album so I didn't bother trying to wait this time. I think I found it for $15'ish though so if I can remember where I'll let you know.

I see that Secondspin.com has a used copy of his first album "Infinite Love Songs" for $7.99. Not sure which I like best yet. I haven't listened to Lady Sleep enough yet to say I like it better but I suspect I eventually will. If you liked Anaesthesia though its probably a safe bet that you'd like "Infinite Love Songs"

np: Glen Phillips "Winter Pays For Summer" - pretty good so far but I'm only two songs in.
