Anyone purchase/view this yet? I'm thinking about picking it up on my lunch break, since I don't much feel like working today.

It's on my Want List, & I keep hearing the same 2 things about it :

1. It's GREAT.
2. It's kinda depressing.

#1 is definitely true, but I kinda disagree with #2. I mean, I can see various reasons while people might call it depressing, but I think overall a lot of inspiration can be drawn from it and their whole dysfunctional family dynamic.

I loved it, but I don't know if I'd buy it.

I think maybe it's more depressing for those who never knew about the "real" side of the band.

I watched this last night and really, really liked it. i've heard that there wasn't a lot of new information in it, but i never really looked into their mythology so it was all new to me.

what's great is when they all get on that spaceship at the end and get taken to that other planet where they never age.

I still haven't been able to get End Of The Century. I'm seriously reconsidering my "shop indie only" policy. The place down the street keeps saying it's been pushed back but I can imagine there being 50 copies at Best Buy.

I wasn't very impressed with Raw. It's like someone's family holiday video, except the family is the Ramones. It's worth checking out if you're a big fan, but it still made me feel "meh".

Yeah, RAW wasnt great.. i hear Edge of the century is 100x better, but sometimes i think its cool to see, an unrehearsed documentary.. just felt more real....even if it was borig at times....

BTW - PBS is showing "End Of The Century" next week. I've heard it's an edited version, but I dunno for sure.

Consult yer local listings, as they say.

just picked this up yesterday, started watching it... so far i like it but i was too tired to finish watching it. imo, i think it's great esp. if you don't know much about that era.

will finish tonight.

I like the Ramones, but would be more likely to buy/rent it if it gives a historical perspective aroudn CBGB's and the NY scene around that time. Is this the case?

if you haven't already, reading Please Kill Me would take care of that for you. The movie goes into that albeit on a smaller scale. It does, though, back up that Danny fields is so fucking uber-cool it's depressing.

I finally picked this up and thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm really glad I bought it.. Kind of sad at times, especially considering that the only original Ramone left is Tommy. For anyone with even a casual interest, it's a must-see. Lots of footage of the Dolls and Stooges too.

Anyone listened to the commentary? I've heard Danny Baker is on that and I like listening to him.
