Not the Johnny Cash song.....the documentary on USA tonight "Ring of Fire: The Emile Griffith Story"

I had never before heard of this incident..

1962 and two boxers Emile Griffith and Benny "Kid" Paret are weighing in. Paret whispers an anti-gay slur to Griffith.

The fight goes down and Griffith retaliates by completely beating the shit out of Paret. Paret goes in to a coma and dies a few days later.

The documentary apparently takes you through these guys lives, the fight and all the shit that went down afterwards with interviews of family members and other boxers.

I might check it out.

Gay or not, we know that Emile Griffith is not anything like the pussy (big-time Republican) Nolan Ryan is. NR only ended up giving Robin Ventura a coupla noogies -- though it looked worse at the time -- while Griffith killed a man... A man who looked like Steve.
