Oh, wait, they do produce these, still. In Europe.

When I go back, I am hoarding them -- I'll bring an extra, empty suitcase into which to stuff the Mars.

I still see Mars around here, or at least a little while ago. I also thought the European Mars wasn't our Mars, but our Milky Way, i.e. with no nuts. Take that you sissies!

No idea what Mars bars are or aren't like these days, but back in the Pleistocene (late 50's-early 60's) they had a white creamy inside topped with caramel and two whole almonds sitting on top. They also cost twice as much as common candy bars- 10 cents vs. the standard nickel.

I thought they just renamed it, rather stupidly, Snickers Almond Bar.

Mars is my power bar of choice. Really, it's my luch sometimes.

They probably don't make these anymore though...well, Swedish Fish I still see from time to time.

the top 2 are everywhere. Freshen up gum was replaced, I believe, with jewels gum, which then went out of business due to their radioactive gelatinous cores.

you people need Wawas so badly...

WaWa = greatest place ever, and heaven for a hungover monger. Nothing like getting a WaWa hoagie at 3 or 4 am, and then eating the rest when you wake up with your head on fire.

Or, going there the next day and getting like, a meatball hoagie, a dr. pepper, some gatorade, a thing of milk, some soup and a magazine, and laying on the couch for 12 straight hours.

As far as candy goes, I really only ever eat Snickers if I have a hnakering (twice a year) or maybe a Skor, or some Good N Plentys VERRRRy rarely.

But, I would love to be able to get some Felix Gum (not to be confused with Red Felix acid, which was fun as well)

why do you all want old candy?

Nothing can be better than a Nestle's Crunch, and some Sour Patch Kids.

You may be right. I also didn't notice the first time, but on the wrapper: "A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play!"

<--- I can see I'm going to have to bring back last week's avatar.

Those of you of a certain age (i.e. old) will plotz over this site.

Here's what a Marathon bar looked like.

Chocolate Babies
Fruit Stripe Gum
B-B Bats
Bonomo Turkish Taffy (frozen, then shattered on the edge of the kitchen counter)
Scrumdidilyumptious (which was basically the same as a 100 Grand bar)
Sugar Babies
Jujubes
Wrigley's Spearmint Gum

A candy I don't particularly want back, though I ate them all the time: Space Food Sticks

By the way--is it just in my area, or have Life Savers virtually disappeared from stores?

Ha ha....surprisingly enough, I saw them in a store recently. Caused me to do a triple take. I hadn't seen them in over 20 years.

I also remember Funny Face fondly, much better than Kool Aid.

What I've been craving and unable to find for several years is not candy but Toasted Almond Ice Cream bars.

I think Jujubes or B-B Bats might still be around somewhere, too.

The Vermont Country Store sells hard-to-find candy. I really want some Maple Leafs.
