Tom Waits -- need to hear more
id be more than happy to send some tom waits for you if you'd like me to.
name an album, any album.
Actually, that's kind of what I'm asking -- what would you recommend? I heard that Swordfishtrombones is one of his better ones. What's your favourite? I also know I need to hear Bone Machine, Rain Dogs, and Mule Variations. I
have Alice and
Blood Money, so neither of those...
Well, my personal favorite is Rain Dogs. I honestly believe it is a flawless album. Many people would obviously argue with that, though. Franks Wild Years is also really great, and I always highly recommend The Heart of Saturday Night, it's one of his earlier albums, following Closing Time (his first album). The first Waits' album I purchased was Blood Money, even though the first song I heard was off of Small Change. That one also seems to be pretty popular on the board. I have grown to like Mule Variations a lot through listening to it while painting. I listened to Black Market Baby 9 billion times this year. Also, Bone Machine is a really good album. So, If those are the ones you really would like to hear, I can upload them for you.
I also have this Tom Waits bootleg that is really amazing, it's of rare or unreleased tracks and versions of certain songs and covers, so if you like the other stuff I send you then if you'd like I can send it to you as well.
I'll get started on loading the three you mentioned you would like to hear, and I can send you Swordfish as well.
Just let me know specifically which ones you'd like. It may take me a little while to load them all but hopefully I will get a few to you by the end of the night. I'll PM you with the links. Right now i'll load up Rain Dogs and send me a message to tell me what else you'd like to hear. I have all of his albums (except for Nighthawks At The Diner, though it's on my computer). Pretty much all of his albums are wonderful, I just never got into Closing Time too much, it's nicely crafted, just not the Tom Waits I am used to.
