I just finished watching Conan and witnessed one of the worst things I've ever seen.

Jason Mraz.

That was just gut wrenchingly awful. I think the song was 'Word Play' because he only repeated it about 3900 times. If I ever hear this song again I will evicerate myself.

He is Squirrgle Public Enemy #1 right now. And there's a LOT of competition for that spot.

One of the few people for whom I'd trade jail time to make "disappear."

I had heard of him before but never actually been exposed to his music. I can't honestly remember when I've hated something more than that song.

I've heard one or two of his songs and don't see where this is coming from. I mean, he's no Maroon 5.

Fuck that, Maroon 5 sounds like Jimi fucking Hendrix compared to this idiot. The stupid rapping and self-referential lyrics are a million times worse than 'This Love'.

It's the cutesy, "look at me Ma, I can SIIIIING" shit. Every single square inch is covered in little flourishes and trills, little attempts to show off. An inch of talent stretched for half a mile.

I got a mix from what I thought was a friend last year with a Mraz cut on it. After an extended bout of alternately laughing and wretching horribly, I returned the favor by sending said ex-friend a shoe box full of baby shit.

Mine:

1. Black Eye Peas
2. Jason Mraz

I'm considering a sniper rifle as we speak.

These two jostle for #1, but I run across Mraz more often, so he gets the nod. Or should I say he gets the alleged brake failure.

From his bio on AMG:

Singer/songwriter Jason Mraz hails from Mechanicsville, VA, where he grew up as a fan of the Dave Matthews Band

Tells me all I need to know.

The overall impression I got, the first time I ever saw him (also on a late-night show, a year ago or so) was that he was still stuck in "street performer" mode, trying to win people over in 15 seconds, but in this format, you have longer - you don't need to run at 110% every second of every song.

Net result: A burning desire to open a firehose on him.

That's a fairly apt description, but there are worse offenses here. Let's look at some lyrics shall we?

-----
I've been all around the world
I've been a new sensation
But it doesn't really matter in this ge-generation
The Sophomore slump is an uphill battle
And someone said that in my scene
Cause they need a new song like a new religion
Music for the television
I can't do the long division someone do the math
When the record label puts me on the shelf up in the freezer
Gotta find another way to live the life of leasure
So I drop my top
Mix and I mingle
Is everybody ready for the single and it goes

[chorus]
La la la la la
Li-listen close to the words i lay
La la la la la
It's all about the wordplay
La la la la la
The wonderful thing it does because because I am the wizard of Ooh's and Aah's and FA LA LA's see in the mix of A to Z they say I'm all about the wordplay

And its' time to get in I've got your remedy for those who don't remember me
Well let me introduce you to my style
I try to keep a jumble in the lyrics never rumble when the music's making people tongue-tied
You want a new song like a new religion
Music for the television
I can't do the long division someone do the math

For the people who laugh me off like I'm a one-hit-wonder
Gotta find another way to keep from going under
Pull out the stops
Got your attention
I guess it's time again for me to mention the wordplay

[chorus]
La la la la la
Li-listen close to the words i lay
La la la la la
It's all about the wordplay
La la la la la
The wonderful thing it does because because I am the wizard of Ooh's and Aah's and FA LA LA's see in the mix of A to Z they say I'm all about the wordplay

Oh theres a bridge across the stream of consciousness that always seems to be flowing
But I don't know which way my brain is going
Oh the rhyming and the timing always keeps the melodies inside me
They keep coming 'til i'm running out of air
Are you prepared to take a dive into the deep end of my head?
Are you listening to a single word I've said?

La la la la la
listen closely to the words i say
La la la la la
we're sticking to the wordplay
Ah la la la love
The wonderful thing it does because because I am the wizard of Ooh's and Aah's and FA LA LA's see in the mix of A to Z they say I'm all about the wordplay

La la la la la
I'm all about the wordplay
La la la la la
sticking with the wordplay
Ah la la la love
I love the wonderful thing it does because because of the Ooh's and Aah's and FA LA LA's are back in love
In the mix from A to Z they say it's all about the wordplay

In the video people throw rocks at him and blood gushes out of his body.

Having a sense of humor about the fact people hate you doesn't make your music bearable.

Truer words. I have a feeling that if I put the volume down and I would love that fucking video.

Heh, sorry Cap'n. But it was too fucking awful not to post so we could all enjoy the Ooh's and Aah's and FA LA LA's!!!

I almost mentioned his vile name earlier, but was afraid his burning, all-seeing eye atop the dark tower in the west would turn my way if I did.
