losing Priest killed my chances. You lose a premier back in this league and there's just nobody left. If we're gonna have 20 teams in one league, may I make a suggestion: 1 RB per team!!!

Hey, Green Bay did their best to keep starting halfbacks in the free agnecy pool. ;)

Suggestion is duly noted, though I think it's too much. Might drop a WR slot and change 2nd RB to RB/WR as a compromise.

well, actually, I lost my first rounder, Duece M., well before you lost Priest. Maybe if you had a bit more rocket sauce, life would not look so dismal...

actually what would make the league better is if we had a few less teams (there were plenty of people who just gave up mid year). 12 would be ideal.

I think in every league, no matter how many teams there are, people give up once they feel they can't win. I've really enjoyed having 20 teams.

My one suggestion would be weekly pickups via a waiver waire, but currently Yahoo doesn't offer that.

I have officially sucked all year. That's the last time I take a QB in the first round.

Don't be too hasty. The scoring for QB's in this year's league is just dismal, which is why I didn't draft mine until round 7 or so. I've seen weeks in which a QB here scored 13 points but in my money league scored north of 35.

Yeah, I like having 20 teams because strategy comes into play so much more. Like the idea of one RB or a RB/WR spot though.

Now that all I need is a win to get in I'll probably lose the rest of my games.

I don't like that the scoring is so low.
Defenses get 0 points if they give up 21? that seems a little low for football.
I don't like how kickers lose points for missing field goals and extra points. Isn't the penalty enough that they don't get anything?
Quarterbacks only get 1 point for every 30 yards? I'd like to see this down to 25 yards.
How come a quarterback only gets 4 points for a passing touchdown? That should be 6.

Most QB's throw for at least 20-30 td's per year. Only the very top RB/WR's will score over 10. Therefore, awarding 6 points for a passing td results in marginal QB's scoring more points than top RB's & WR's. Awarding 4 points for passing td's results in the top QB's and top RB's & WR's scoring roughly the same amount of points. I think Sketch did a great job on league scoring.

I don't disagree, but this scoring scheme is unusual, and probably caught a lot of folks by surprise.

For the reasons elucidated by Unit 3021, I don't like 6 point TD pass leagues either---it makes the QB too valuable. Having 3 or 4 point TD passes evens the playing field and makes them about equally valuable as RB and WR.

I agree with bitterbuffalo---limit the league to 12 or 14 owners, and create a second league if more are interested.

It was also the exact same scheme as last year. People may not have noticed as much since Peyton and Daunte had two of the best QB fantasy seasons ever in 2004. Even the year before, it was pretty much an even split between QB, RB, and WR among the top 25. This year's QBs have underperformed comparatively due to injuries and the Colts' increased reliance on defense. Who would have predicted Carson Palmer as the best fantasy QB at the start of the season?

About K/D: While most systems (including this one) will award points to skill positions for mediocrity, I'd prefer to reward special teams for excellence and accuracy. Kickers are expected to make extra points and field goals under 40 yards just as QBs are expected to not throw interceptions and ball carriers are expected to hold onto the ball. Barring an amazing offense, teams with defenses giving up more than 21 points every week don't win very often.

Would prefer a 20-team league and tweak it rather than two smaller leagues. Open to 14-team leagues assuming the following: 1) someone else is willing to run the second (just feel like a cheeseball doing both... especially with prizes involved), and 2) We expand the starting rosters accordingly: 2 QB, 2 RB, 1 RB/WR, 4 WR, 1 WR/TE, or something to that effect.

Max: did it by Excel. Thanks for asking.

oh man, I was watching Monday night, and as the Colts were running out the clock with James, he was inching closer and closer to beating me, if he had gotten in the endzone, I was done, as it tuned out he came up 1.7 shy.

I disagree because even though QB's may throw more td's they get less points for yardage than receivers and running backs.
In my other league, they give the point scenario that I described, and the running backs are stil more valuable than the QB's in terms of total points. I think the quality of good players should be even. Why should RB's be what determines whether a team is good? WR's score way less points than RB's and QB's. TE's score less than kickers and DST.

...because it's been a weak year for QBs. In terms of yards, the general marker for a good game is 100 for WR/RB and 250-300 for QB. Points should be done accordingly. Your team's failure has nothing to do with the scoring system; it has everything to do with Peyton Manning not performing to expectations.

I agree. Most years, our point system will give a pretty even spread across QB/RB/WR.

Quote:

Unless you award points for receptions, which this league does. It means receiving backs get a boost sure, but it evens the playing field in general.

Quote:

It's still worth putting in a TE slot (flex at the very least), so somebody can play Gates, Gonzo, Crumpler, and Heap.

Yahoo! Sports apologizes for any difficulty you have experienced accessing your fantasy team today. The technical issues have now been resolved. Please note that some recent transactions (i.e. lineup changes, roster moves and trades) may not have been recorded properly, so we recommend that you carefully review your teams to make sure they are up to date. Thank you for playing fantasy sports on Yahoo! Sports, and once again we apologize for any inconvenience.

Last transaction on record is Deaf Guys pickup of Ben Watson.
