Can anyone answer this for me?
I want to learn to snowboard. I'm competent enough on skis to be able to handle black diamonds. I've been told that after you have endured the brutal learning period and get the hang of snowboarding that it is much more fun. Can anyone attest to this? A buddy of mine said he'll never go back to skiis.

i used to ski all the time but have been snowboarding for 8 years now and it is by far my favorite of the two. there is nothing better than riding through powder (like the 2 feet of which i did yesterday). the first time is very discouraging and painful, so is the second time, but the learning curve is steep and by the third time you will likely be able to make it down without falling. then you will never ski again. i still own skis and occasionally go with my daughters but i gaze longingly at the riders all day... i grew up in the east and there is a reason why people in the west are 'snow snobs'...it's because skiing in the east bloooooowwwwwws!
just a fact of life, get over it.
one of the reasons why utah rocks is because people like rparis wont come here and i have never once waited more than 5 minutes to get on a lift.
oh, snowbird is also 8 miles from my house which you can't get in denver.
that is all, discuss.
