Every now and then you hear of stuff like this that pops up, makes me wonder if Judas was smoking crack...time to break out the "Crack killed appeljack" T shirts...he musta been messed up when he wrote this stuff.
He was. I sold it to him.
The Council of Nicea, knowing that there was prolliferation of scriptures and sects all claiming primacy and purity in bearing the true belief, and knowing that with Constantine's assumption of Chrisitanity as a system of belief informing the moral skelton of the decaying Empire, was designed to codify the canon, decide which of several scriptures was the true record, and create an authority and orthodoxy that would be a power that the state used and controled. Isotropism and hegemonic determinism, and maybe crack too.
Religion is man's use of limited language and culture-bound rationalization to talk about, understand, and live the Mysteries of God, creation, life and death. One river, many wells.
That man's imperfections make for quirky inconsistencies, hypocritical power plays, and established chruches bent on perpetuating structuures of domination, does not mean that there is not Something with mysterious attributes of life-death, joy, return and redemption.
Nice thread to enter Holy Week.
