This is certain to draw the ire of KPH, but after watching last night's Spurs-Mavs game, I've come to the realization that Tim Duncan is washed up. Yeah, yeah...plantar fascitis, blah blah blah. Dude has no fire left in his belly. It seems like years since I've seen him hit the once automatic bank shot from the wing. He NEVER dunks anymore. EVER. He's getting outrebounded by guys a foot shorter.
I mean, he was brilliant in his prime, brought them three titles, but his time has passed. And that makes me sad.
I've had plantar fascitis for a couple of years and it is the most annoying fucking thing in the world (i play basketball at a pretty competitive level. Probably about the level of div 2 college in the US [we dont have college sports here]).
Anyway...its so fucking annoying because the pain is just bearable, its just this little niggling thing that stops you doing things 100% well and prevents explosive movements. Its so much harder to jump, dunk, shoot, even shoot free throws. The pain is this tiny little thing that isnt sharp nor dull; that kinda pain that is really deep and you cant put your finger on an exact location in the foot. And even if you can over come the pain, when you try to jump you just never get as high as you used to be able to. I've had major knee and back injuries as well, but nothing is annoying as plantar fascitis. The niggling pain that you cant explain that NEVER HEALS. The most annoying part is that it rarely prevents you from playing, but you can rarely have a game where you feel great, and taking time off does little to fix the problem. In basketball, i get most frustrated when im stopped by something i cant control rather than being stopped by a great defender.
I guess i can kinda feel for the Big Fundamental. SUre i don't like him as a ball player that much, but i know the kind of frustration he's going through. It really sucks.
