I saw one in real-life about 16-17 years ago.
On I-70 between St. Louis and Columbia, MO.
I had to swerve to avoid running over the bike, which skidded across the road and in front of my car... crashing into the center barrier.

So... I don't need to see this video.

That guy might just be the luckiest man in the world. That second bike passed, what, 4 inches over his head? Guy needs to go get himself a lottery ticket.

About 5 years ago, while on my way to work, I witnessed two cards sideswipe each other on the HOV lane. While the car on the right continued to shove the one on its left to the center divider, it eventually pulled away and hit the motorcyclist that was immediately in front. I saw the motorcyclist literally fly over the handlebars. And in one motion, I saw him roll towards the center divider, get to his feet and jump over to the other side of the freeway. It was one of the most incredibly scary accidents I had ever seen. Luckily, the guy was wearing a helmet and looked to have not incurred serious injury.

i didn't even watch it and i'm already terrified. my dad used to own many motorcycles and we'd go riding on them a lot.
i have a deep respect for harley owners, or any real "bike" owners but i don't have as much respect for sports bike owners simply because of the way i see them drive their bikes around richmond. it's irresponsible.
one day i hope to have a harley.

I'm not sure if "awesome" is the word I'd use. But yeah. That's why we wear armored jackets that slide of asphalt, boots with plates in them (on my feet as we speak), strong gloves, full pants, yada yada. And it's why I drive like I have Miss Daisy in the back seat behind me. It's also why I can't rationalize buying anything approaching a crotch rocket. On my midsize boring metric cruiser, I miss the agility, the cornering, etc. I'd have on something "sporty," but I don't want the attention, trouble, or ability to be going 70mph faster in 3 seconds by dropping my right wrist one inch.

My uncle is a motorcycle enthusiast and weirdly the only accident he's had was when he was filling up the tank at the 'gas' station.

A car came into the forecourt and crashed into him and his bike. Since he landed on his head, he would probably have been killed or seriously injured if he hadn't had his motorcycle helmet on.

I don't know if it's a regional thing or what, but most of the Harley riders around here are complete tools. They're the "I own the road, you merely travel on it because I allow you to" types who make driving seriously stressful and dangerous. I'm always, always, always courteous around motorcycle riders because I realize how dangerous most people drive around them, but one day I had one guy road-raging me because I dared to pass him in the fast lane when he decided to randomly speed up and slow down for miles - with not a single car in front of him for hundreds of feet. I gave him a huge buffer while behind him, but he would still drift back, then shoot forward, drift back, shoot forward, swerve from side to side, etc. As soon as I moved to pass him, he guns it, stares me down while yelling something I obviously couldn't hear. I lucked out when he had to slow down for other cars in front of him, then jumped back in the lane. A few moments later, he'd apparently freaked out the cars separating us who quickly exited the lane and he got right on my tail, all the while yelling and gesturing at me. All for absolutely no reason other than he didn't like my presence.

I think motorcycles are great, but most of the people who ride them aren't qualified to ride the 25-cent bucking kiddie-cycles outside the grocery store.

The fest said "amazing." Is that what you're talking about?

I think the actual clip is labeled something like "awesome motorcycle crash video." Shoulda been clearer, though the words are pretty similar.

maybe it is regional.. or maybe it's the people i rode with while my dad had his bike.
man, i miss going to bike shows and riding. they are so pretty.
oh well, the people i encounter on bikes in richmond usually appear to be responsible. not everyone will be, though.

i would love to speed around on a motorcycle but with the way i ride my mountain bike, there's no way i'd get on something bigger and faster.

This rationale is why I don't ever want the Mrs to be able to drive one, btw.

What the H, Z? How'd that happen?

i used to temp at a place last year and then they let me go in february. one of my coworkers from there loves motorcycle/jet-ski crashes, so i sent him this video. we started emailing occasionally. a few months later, he calls to say that my temp job is now a full-time position and it's mine if i want it. what i'd been doing in the meantime was not something i enjoyed, so i jumped at the chance. monday was my first day. it's pretty sweet.
