Wisconsin won their bowl game, but they aren't a Top 5, or maybe even Top 10 team.

Even after beating YOUR Hogs???

Hogs ain't a Top 10 team either. Hell, if Vanderbilt had hit the FG, and Alabama made some extra points, it's unlikely they would have beaten Auburn. That would put them at 7-5, including a win over I-AA SE Missouri State, so they would barely qualify for a bowl with 6 D-IA wins.

Notre Dame hasn't beaten a top ten team during their last three coaches, this according to ESPN today. I think that is what you probably heard on the radio.

I think you're right. I think it was something like 0 for their last 16 tries against top 10 teams.

I wonder if their fortunes might have changed had they won the nailbiter with USC last year...

I just heard a stat on the radio, can anyone confirm this:

Notre Dame has yet to beat a top 25 team since Charlie Weiss came there.

If that's true, what the fuck were they doing in the Sugar Bowl? No offense FT.

Because they are Notre Dame? No Offense or Defense FT.

The time has come for the powers to be to recognize "being Notre Dame" is a negative and NOT a positive. Rockne died close to a century ago, and ND hasn't been worth a shit for almost 20 years. The "Rudy" mythology bullshit just needs to be put to rest, once and for all. ND = no dicks, not dominant, never deserving, etc.

I'll never stop rooting for them, but I've lost all respect for them.

Their only hope at this point is stop the fucking charade and join a goddamned conference.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but speaking of conferences, how in the hell can the Big 10 be considered a legitimate conference when Iowa doesn't have to play either Michigan or Ohio State next season? That would be like Nebraska not plaing either Texas or Oklahoma in a season or Georgia not playing Florida or Auburn.

I didn't realize Iowa had a big enough rivalry with either school to cause outrage on this; their only in-conference trophy games are Wisconsin and Minnesota. Are you concerned that they will go undefeated the conference without playing OSU/UM because those are the only two 'quality' teams in the conference?

EDIT: If this is a case for the Big 10 to pickup a twelfth team and do the two-division/championship-game thing, the only way to prevent this scenario would be north-south split, putting UM and OSU in separate divisions. This will, in turn, mean that OSU-UM could play each other twice in a three-week-period if they are perenially the best teams in the conference. Instant yawn-fest.

My top 6:
1. OSU/FL winner
2. Boise State
3. OSU-if-lost/LSU
4. LSU/FL-if-lost
5. USC
6. Wisconsin

It is my concern that they would go unbeaten without playing one of the teams that consistantly wins the Big 10. While Wisconsin and Minnesota are clearly the rivalry games besides Iowa State out of conference, they aren't really the measuring stick games that Iowa and Kirk Ferentz need to prove themselves.
I'd rather see them have divisions and a conference championship game like the Big 12, SEC and ACC than have the three way ties for the Rose Bowl that they have had in the past.

I'm exhausted beyond exhausted. Went to the Sugar bowl on Wed. and basically just got back as it festivities moved to a bachelor party teh following night in the Big Sleezy and the Wedding/Rehearsal dinner the last two nights.

Even when the score was kinda close it didn't feel like it. Brady Quinn is a fraud. I'd put Boise St. #2 in my poll but I honest to god think LSU is the 2nd best team in the country and would have a great chance to beat OSU. Just didn't get the bounces this year.
