Really, no on Barry Larkin? I haven't looked at the numbers but I've always thought that he was sorely underrated, as he pretty much owned the ss position after the Wiz retired.

Not so. After 3 more years if he continues to play decent .280 20HR 80RBI he'll end up with stats like these

2600+ Hits 400+HR 1600+ RBI 1300+Runs
1 MVP (4 times in top 10)

I'll admit that he's an average defender but he already is and will further solidify being the best offense second baseman in baseball history. All of those numbers would be better than Sandberg (Sandberg has the defensive edge obviously)

And for Loogar: he's played above his career averages in the postseason...even bringing his homerun per at bat ratio for 1 every 21.9 AB in the regular season to 1 every 14 in the post season. He brought the heroics to Houston.


If he ends up with 400HR's i think that makes him a viable HOF. Writers don't like him so i think it will take awhile.

Call me crazy but I dont think Ozzie Smith is a Hall of Famer.

Larkin is an interesting case. He'll probably make it in eventually due to the fact that he was probably the best NL shortstop for a lot of years. It'd be nice if he at least had 1,000 RBI's.

Larkin, Edgar, Walker, Frank Thomas, and Kenny Lofton were the ones I had the hardest time deciding where to put between "borderline" and "sorry but no". Don't know if I made the right choices. I ultimately discounted Thomas' performance because of his DH-ness, but I guess I didn't do the same for Edgar. Hmmm.

Have you ever seen the film The Scout with Brendan Frazier? He's pitching in the WS for the Yankees and there's two outs in the bottom of the ninth and he has a 26 strikeout perfect game and who's coming up to bat against him but "Ozzie Smith himself". It was hilarious. First, if it's the 27th batter hasn't he faced Ozzie twice before? And secondly, it's Ozzie Smith. Fearsome.

Junior will be in if he can play at least one more full season healthy.

Ozzie is a Hall of Famer, he was one of those dudes who was bigger than his stats.

I think Frank Thomas is a HOF

He'll end up in the top 15 in HR's, top 20 in RBI..he's already 11th in OPS, 2 MVPS and 9 times in top 10 of MVP, 1 batting title and 8 times in top 10 for batting title.

Obviosuly a crap defender and mostly DH now. He was dominant and still is somewhat offensively.
