*reserving the right too boo him like crazy once this hot streak wears off*

but until then....

NEW YORK (AP) -- Alex Rodriguez did it again.

Rodriguez hit a three-run, two-out homer that capped a comeback from a four-run deficit in the ninth inning, giving the New York Yankees an 8-6 victory over the Cleveland Indians on Thursday.

A-Rod connected on a belt-high pitch from Joe Borowski (0-1) and sent the ball soaring to center. Rodriguez knew immediately it was gone, flipping his bat toward the Yankees' dugout and raising both hands in triumph.

He slapped the hands of coach Larry Bowa after rounding third, then slammed his helmet to the ground.

By homering for the third straight game, Rodriguez increased his major league-leading totals to 10 homers and 26 RBIs.

He has done this one or two times i have seen after big home runs...

Definitely doesn't come across as showing anyone up seeing it live or on TV..

i think he is so desperate for approval from the fans, that he gets lost in the situation and gets too joyous!

It's gonna be sad to see him go for me!

He obviously can't maintain this level all year long, but he does have the opt out clause, and technically can be playing for a new contract come years end....

If he has a capable A-rod type monster year, his next deal will blow Soriano's 8-136 out of the water......Scott Boras is stroking himself right now I believe.

Maybe i'm an optimist here but his current deal blows Soriano's out of the water. Everyone's saying he's going to opt out...I still find it hard to believe that anyone would pay him more than the $25 million/year of his current contract. The only reason I could think of him opting out is if he wants out of NY that bad and if he continues playing the way he is I think he and NY will embrace each other.

And what that article doesn't say is that NY was losing 6-2 with two outs and the bases empty in the bottom of the nine and josh phelps at the plate. they proceeded to score 6 runs including a-rod's walkoff...damn.

If i got it straight, A-Rod's deal after this season is as follows....
3 years - 82 million.

the average salary prob wont be 25 mil per year again.

but he could sign a 8 year (taking him till he is 40) for close to 200 million again, once Boras pitches his past presewnt and future against Soriano's recent mega-deal.

if a-rod doesnt opt out, and gets seriously hurt in the next 3 years, there goes the mega contract

so it comes down to 82 million and take your chances, or a 200 million (??) deal taking you to the end of your career?

I'd love for him to stay.. Hey the Rangers are paying 40% of the deal.....But as a business man, he'd be foolish not too.

Cashman has said he wont talk extension even after the deal. He seems intent on not going nuts over superstars anymore.....

so, i think a-rod walks.....unfort....despite how this year turns out....i hope I'm wrong.

Well if i agreed with you on the options maybe. I don't think anyone would give A-Rod a $200 million contract. How many clubs do you think would even be in the bidding at a $150 million price tag knowing that they were taking on the risk of an injury or a drop in performance in the outyears. I can't claim to be an expert but I don't think you can get insurance coverage on contracts of that length which is why people hate going that long on someone.

If you assume a $160 figure, than what you are talking about is opting out for an additional $78 spread over 5 years. Yes, you can bank that if you get an injury but a healthy and productive arod would probably earn more than the $78. So the risk would be spread both ways and he'd have to go to one of a few teams that might consider paying that much (Boston?, Mets?, Dodgers?...is there anyone else?)...I can see that only making a lot of sense if he hates playing in NY and if that's the case, strike the mets from that list too. He probably did hate NY to some degree prior to the start of this year but if he continues having a monster season, I think any bad will both ways will be long gone before he has to make that decision.

Part of the reason for his hot streak I think is the fact that he slimmed down this offseason. Lost about 15 lbs of bulk they say, and it definitely shows. The result (at least from my point of view) is that his bat speed is back to where it was in the late 90s. He's been able to catch up to more hard stuff so far.

I know it won't last, but its still fun to watch the highlights every night. Whether or not he opts out of his contract at season's end is up in the air. I think that if he has a really good season and gets back in the fans good graces full time he'll stay. But I don't see anybody else giving him anywhere near the 3 years 82 million he has coming to him. I think that this is the year, if Zito and Soriano end up being busts, it may seriously curtail the amount of money is thrown at free agents this offseason. And I hope that's what happens.

I'm no Yankees fan, but the Indians (and especially their manager) deserve whatever embarrassment they got for that wreck of a 9th inning. 1st base opened up during A-Rod's at bat due to a wild pitch, and they didn't walk him. No way they should have pitched to him, even if Giambi was on deck.

Seriously. I don't think anyone predicted this kind of production from him this early in the season.

I've never understood A-Rod and Jeter hatred. I get the "hate the Yankees" sentiment in a general sense since I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan, but both dudes are some of the best ever to play the game.

Jeter seems like a solid citizen, but A-Rod is about one of the smarmiest assholes there ever was. I hate that fucking bitch.
