For clarity, sure. But nothing really beats the needle-on-plastic resonance.

when i'm dj'ing drum and bass/idm on a club system, clarity is incredibly important. yeah, the needle scratch is great and "authentic", but at that point that's the last thing i'm looking for.

as far as mixing goes, that's what the dj is there for...to create an atmosphere. if you don't mix and blend, what are you doing up there?

i can tell you're not a dj.[/quote]

plus dance music is made digitally, so putting it on wax does nothing to improve the sound.

i don't mix or beat match, but i make the night go smooth through selection and pacing. and people complain w hen i'm not there, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and makes me think that most people don't care about scratching or beat matching, they just want to hear good songs. (this is for hip hop, not for dance music which is a differnt ball game)

I can stop by for a bit on my way home (probably between 8:00-9:00). I'm not sure if I'm going to participate tonight, but I'd like to hear and see what it's like. I made a couple 15 minute playlists in case I change my mind, but they're not too exciting except for my tribute to today's 'interlude thread' which includes 15minutes worth of interludes (about 25 total).

I was told that you get to play three songs or 15 minutes, whichever comes first. I'll be there, but I guess I'm posting this kind of late.

I have a 15 min. playlist and three songs I'd like to hear, so we'll see what I use.

that is lame! 3 songs or 15 minutes? i know a guy in DC who did 8 songs in 12 minutes. i thought the idea would be to be creative with the time. we'll see how this plays out...

Anyone check this out last night?

I went and played my Ipod for about 30 minutes or so because when I walked in absolutely no one was there. This is a very cool idea, but I went way too early. I'd like to check it out again in a few weeks after maybe it picks up a little. I met some guy who was digging what I was playing, so that's cool. I still see the potential in this....

Z and I were there around 9:30-10:30. I was a little disappointed that they hired a band for the same night. I might have played a couple tracks had it not been for the band.
