Hey, it took an act of god to make your hell hole shittier than our hell hole. We'll be back.
And, just since I see it brought up a bit and 'cause I do like my town, I gotta say St. Louis does have a lot more than one good record store and sight lines at the ball game. It's not Chicago or New York or LA. On size alone, you gotta accept that. But, for a mid sized city, it's got a shit load to offer. Excellent parks, including completely free zoo, art museum, science center and more. A high quality symphony. Plenty of nightlife (although admittedly not the most accessible if you're not local and don't know where to go). The City Museum, which is a unique attraction for all ages that you should check out when you're in town. They stay open until 1 AM and serve drinks on the weekends. Several good sections of town for ethnic restaurants along with a ever-growing more fine dining type of scene. Free concerts all over town in the summertime, even got Sonic Youth playing a free gig under the arch this year. Incredibly cheap cost of living. Driving distance to Chicago, Memphis and other nearby locales.
And, while Vintage Vinyl is a good record store, there actually an even better one, in my opinion, Euclid records, especially if you like jazz. I'd put their jazz section up against anyone. And for vinyl junkies that wanna sift through stacks and stacks of poorly organized records, you can spend hours combing through the Record Exchange, an old converted library overflowing with vinyl. There's also a good sized record fair held every other month where you can score lots of great deals, so record hunting opportunities are actually a strength around here.
So no, St. Louis isn't one of the biggest cities in the country so if you come here expecting that, you'll be disappointed. But, it's a far cry from a place that's got nothing to offer. Anytime I think of moving, I really struggle to come up with a place to live that I could afford that has anything more, really.
