As stated previously, I just enjoy the old bowl system. But I don't see a playoff fixing this. Up until Oregon lost to Stanford, it was easy to hear comments that Oregon clearly deserved to be ranked higher than Boise State, because of the weakness of Boise's schedule, and despite Boise thumping Oregon in the opener.

Not only that the Idaho Statesman recently reported that "close to 10 BCS teams" have turned down opportunities to play the Broncos. I saw in another paper that those proposals weren't even home & homes, Boise was willing to come to them, with no commitment to come to Idaho.

So if you have your playoff, and Oregon won the Pac-10 and got in, where would that leave an undefeated Boise State team that beat Oregon, especially with TCU and Cincinnati sitting undefeated as well? These problems aren't going away, and quite honestly, no one is worried about leaving out the small schools, they are only interested in "fairness" when it involves leaving out a USC, Oklahoma or SEC school.

I don't agree with the people only interested in fairness if it's their school angle. I think the playoff levels the field. You clearly think Boise St isn't getting the love they deserve but if the season ended right now they'd be in an 8 team playoff and they could prove it to the world. In fact, even if you had ACC Champ, SEC Champ, Big 12 Champ, Pac 10 Champ, Big 10 Champ, Big East Champ, you'd still have 2 at large teams which would be Boise and TCU. Yes there would be some hand wringing over who would get the at larges every year but it's better than being completely shut out every year isn't it?

As for Boise, I stand by my opinion that if they hadn't lost they should've been higher in the BCS than Boise

In fact, the BCS system will forever hurt the small schools simply due to the way it's set up. Why should an SEC school go play them? We've seen Ohio St. play through a weak schedule, not play a conference championship, and play for the National Championship. There is no incentive for a team from the SEC or the Big 12 to go play them. It only helps Boise and can hurt the other team. Another reason the system is flawed.

FYI, UGA played Boise in 2005 in Athens and beat them 48-13. Just sayin.

Former Nebraska RB Thunder Collins got Life plus 90yrs for killing a legally blind drug dealer from California in Omaha a few years back. He had yet another court room out burst in front of school kids.

Also why is it socially acceptable to bring Catholic School kids to a murder sentencing, but they won't discuss gay marriage with them?

You should be. I thought they'd lose to either WVU or Pitt. If Brian Kelly doesn't leave after this year he may never. He's going to get BIG offers in the off season.

I'd really like to see what Cincy's offense could do against an Alabama or a Texas but we won't ever get it sadly.

I'd rather see TCU play Alabama or Texas. Cincy is having a good season, but both they and Boise have played Miami, OH and Fresno State this year, and surprisingly the Broncos looked a bit better in those games.

If the Bearcats beat Pitt, they are legit, hopefully the Panthers handle ND and WV to make it a serious Big East Title game.

I will say that if Kelly doesn't leave for Notre Dame or maybe Michigan, his salary should be upped to about 2.5 million and they need to start building a new stadium or expanding Nippert. Real teams play in front of at least 50,000 fans at home.

It'll never happen,but I'd kinda like to see a TCU/Cincy 'ship game.

Headed to Norman to catch the OU/A&M game. Probably will be a snoozer, but I haven't seen a game since Adrian Peterson was there.
Plus, the A&M band and those weird ass cadets are always entertaining.

Nebraska beat KU 31-17 in Lawrence today. The Jayhawks took a one point lead with about 8:00 minutes on the clock, and then inexplicably kicked it off short. Nebraska got a nice return and followed it up with a rushing TD.
Another late rushing TD was the final nail in coffin.
One more win next week and the Huskers get to play the Longhorns in Dallas for the Big 12 crown.

Reportedly, Brian Kelly's wife is tired of moving, loves Cincinnati, and has put her foot down on Kelly taking a job elsewhere.

I hope it's true.

Good, the last thing the Wolverines need is a coach who's worth a damn.

I'd bet that Mrs. Kelly could be enticed by 2 or 3 million things to move elsewhere.

I'd guess that Kelly is making $800,000-1,300,000/yr at Cincy? Some big-time programs are going to be looking for a new coach soon and would easily double (possibly triple) that salary.

Hell, Sarkisian got a $1.8 mil/yr deal at UW. Tedford at Cal makes $2.8 mil. What would Notre Dame offer for Kelly?

Are they already calling for RichRod's head up there? Damn, I thought UW fans were impatient.

On their way to consecutive losing seasons for the first time in forever. Consecutive losses to Mich. St. for the first time in 40+ years. Program under a (silly) NCAA investigation for violating player practice time constraints. Losing out on high-profile in-staters and not doing too hot outside the border.

Yeah, RR doesn't have too many backers up in Ann Arbor these days. Of course, all of this will be moot if he can pull a miracle out of his ass and beat the Buckeyes next week. Do that and all is right with the world.

He's 9 games into his 2nd season there, IIRC. He's not even playing his upperclass recruits yet. Not time to cut bait.

He should have tried harder to get Paulus to be his QB.

We heard the same thing about Mrs. Saban. She was quoted as saying that she planted oak trees in her backyard with the anticipation of watching them grow. And Nicky was the highest paid coach in CFB.

Honestly, he would be stupid not to leave Cincy if given the right chance.

Even more honestly, I'd love for Michigan to fire RichRod and hire Miles.

oh yeah, and he will. The best saving grace that cincy has at the moment is that it's probably a better job than Notre Dame right now.

Or they could go the route the Minnesota Timberwolves didn't -- hiring a superfan -- & hire you to coach, Senator.

& yes I am comparing you to Bill Simmons. I am sure you hate that.

Most-read sports columnist out there. NY Times No. 1 best-selling author. Exec Producer for ESPN's "30 For 30" series...

There are way worse things to be.
