I have no use for an ipad,
This is why it's not a ground breaking product from Apple. It is the first one that most people have no need for or can live without.

If they put Android or Linux on there, they might have something.
So there would be 1/10 as many apps and/or nobody would know how to fucking use the thing?
actually, it would be open computing, very useful apps, multitasking capabilities, and incredible easy to customize and use.
i'm sure it's in the works.
"open" doesn't always equal good or even useful to a great majority of the computing world (not you, of course)
Are you suggesting Android is too complicated for people to use? I would agree that it is new to a lot of people, but once people use it for an hour realize how simple it can be. 1/10th as many apps doesn't mean much. I am amazed at the number of iPhone apps that people have forced me to "check out" because they are "cool" but in reality are pretty idiotic. (beer drinking simulators, gun simulators, fart noise makers...) Just a year ago, Apple only had 25,000 apps after being on the market for 2 years, where Android has been out 15 months and has 20,000.

FTR, I have no dog in this fight, have no use for a kindle or an ipad, use a MacBook but also have to use VMWare fusion because I still like to run a bunch of Windows shit, etc.
Wait...did you just say that a MacBook running VMWare fusion to run Windows applications is less confusing than Android?
Dalen, I wouldn't bet on Apple letting Android get anywhere near one of their devices. I haven't heard of it on an iPhone, so I wouldn't expect it on a iPad. (chuckle)
I would think Android would be able to utilize the hardware inside better to make the device more powerful. No multi-tasking is pretty lame for 2010. It just doesn't make much sense to own one of these, if you need a phone/mp3 player and a home computer/laptop also.
FT, I'm sure you are right. They will withhold functionality so they can release the newer product in the future to get people's money again. This is another reason Apple sucks. Make the devices upgradable.
