Yes, it is indicative of how many feel about churches and religion in this country, but there's a reason for that: this very kind of action, or door to door salespeople giving a hard sell on their particular faith. People are tired of this.
I think the sign is hilarious, and not offended in the least bit. I think Modem should do more of it.
I just think the moral outrage by the board moralist over the church trying to give away free food is pretty funny too. Some things are not an evil plot by churches.
Modem's sign is a great example of Simpsons' style humor, and though I would never go to this event in 100 years, there are definitely some here who have a visceral, automatic, negative reaction to anything church related.
A church group could single-handedly save the lives of 1000 puppies, cure cancer, and invent usable cold fusion and these people would still look for the negative.
