(2) It was made funny (in addition to the wording) by exposing the very thing the church consciously left off the flier to lure people into the place. Yes, it is indicative of how many feel about churches and religion in this country, but there's a reason for that: this very kind of action, or door to door salespeople giving a hard sell on their particular faith. People are tired of this.

I think the sign is hilarious, and not offended in the least bit. I think Modem should do more of it.

I just think the moral outrage by the board moralist over the church trying to give away free food is pretty funny too. Some things are not an evil plot by churches.

Modem's sign is a great example of Simpsons' style humor, and though I would never go to this event in 100 years, there are definitely some here who have a visceral, automatic, negative reaction to anything church related.
A church group could single-handedly save the lives of 1000 puppies, cure cancer, and invent usable cold fusion and these people would still look for the negative.

It's interesting you should ask this, because this particular church is tricked out eight ways from sunday (no pun intended) with the most high-tech a/v gear you have ever seen. I can only assume their concession / kitchen facilities are top-notch as well.

Meanwhile, at the school where my nephews go, they are still wheeling a projector around on an a/v cart from one class to another.

Maybe their school should pass around an offering plate?

I think that's what they use the projector on the a/v cart for, timmy.

but they aren't on a big screen tv or open to the public. They are showing stuff to kids with no money which isn't working out for them.

If they had enough money to buy a big screen, they wouldn't need the cart Timmy.

I'm pretty sure the school could use more than $1,000.

Funny sign, Modem.

The portions of this thread not containing a funny sign by Modem are the worst.

So I clicked on this thread when it was one page but it wouldn't load, so I left it alone.

Come back just now, see it's four pages and it didn't take long to narrow down what had happened.

Man, you "I H8 Jesus" folks need to lighten the fuck up for five minutes.

I don't hate Jesus, but his ardent followers have kind of developed a bit of a reputation over the last couple thousand years. If only they would all decide en masse just shut the fuck up about being Christian, stop proselyting, converting the savages and let it be the private faith and behavioural philosophy that it should be. And no more blankets.
