Hey obners. Hey bort. Hey sis KG(G). Hey nemesis. Thanks for the shout-out about the new stuff! I like the second album we did quite a lot and hope it sees some kind of release. We spent a while writing and recording it, Dave Carswell and John Collins mixed, and we were primed to start touring before life priorities kicked in the door.
Yep, the past year was full of travel for me. I lived with Thom in Berkeley pretty much all of last football season. After a job I had lined up fell through at the last minute, I scurried "home" to NY, and started classes at a local college a few days before the Super Bowl. I'm in Victor, of which I can say that it has a mall. At least that's what the locals seem to say. I don't want to be here any longer than I have to and would happily return to the Bay Area tomorrow. Or anywhere really. Well, not Ohio. In the meantime, I just finished EMT training a few days ago and will begin riding next month while doing clinical shadowing at an ER and all kinds of fun schoolio. I may qualify for food stamps, but I'm in a much better place than I was a year ago. Even if Wakefield is still in the starting rotation. F'n short games.
Bon Savants are on a hiatus, as they say. Thom's in school for the inevitable future, I'm in the same boat pending the next year or 2 of successful prereq study, and the other 3 have various commitments in the northeast. If Thom starts his field research anywhere based out of the northeast, I'm sure he and I'll get something together, as is our custom. We've had several offers for shows and short tours in the meantime, but schedules are tight and whatnot. The drummer and keyboardist are in another band, which they were helping with before the Savants had to stand down. They do a lot of shows in NYC and the region. Check 'em out at:
http://mysteryroar.bandcamp.com/album/overboard They're not at all like the Savants, but I think they're pretty catchy, not to mention rhythmically compelling live.
I've spent the past 7 days in an enormous amount of pain and am currently zonked out on vicodin. I was in a good cycling accident 2 years ago, snapped a fibula, busted a lateral incisor, and so on. Part of the expected treatment for replacing the tooth was an eventual root canal and that just came a'callin a week ago. I get the work done early Monday morning! Woo.
OK, that's probably 95% more info than anyone wanted. I blame the vicodin. Hope you all are well.
