You got to hand it to the marketing types.
To convince people to pay £120 for a book cover that's much less durable, hard wearing and less conveniently sized than the average paper back and which also requires battery power is pretty neat.
Or maybe people really are that STUPID.
At this point the societal technology fetish is so utterly risible that next big thing will probably be the iEye. A flat LCD touch screen next generation tablet which if you peer into shows you exactly what you would see if you didn't have one. Queue up morons! £400 each!
By the way did you see the newspaper article that claimed Kindle users basically read nothing but absolute tat? Sounds about right...
Yea...the ability to carry multiple books, magazines, and documents around at once in an electronic device is pretty stupid. Just like those portable music machines for the greedy idiots that want to carry around their
entire music collection.

You guys keep bringing up battery life. Do you have friends who complain about this or is this something you are just perceiving.
My complaint was not battery life but the requirement of a battery. They could double the battery life and I'd still have the same issue. And sure, it's not an issue for people who plan ahead and keep things well-charged but that's not me. I'm a last minute packer for trips. I live with the need to keep a laptop or ipod or phone charged but that's because I have to, there aren't non-battery powered substitutes (at least not good ones).
The battery life on the regular readers is pretty great. If you can't think to charge your device once every 2 months, you might have a bigger problem lurking.
