Seriously. Beavs possibly the story of CFB this year so far. Not sure they can win big w/out their QB though.

This USC/LSU game is coming down to the wire. If LSU doesn't win they can only blame themselves. They're killing it in almost every statistical category except the score. They've been gashing USC with the run all damn night. If Mettenberger was better they'd be a title contender. But, he's not.

i'd say that too, but the back-up QB looked pretty tough today, especially for his first ever start.

Down to the wire indeed. Our red zone offense has been putrid all year, but at least the offense in general wasn't putrid in this game. Still in it, but it will take a miracle to beat Bama, even at home.

Yeah, i have plenty of issues with A. Murr, but at least he's not that guy.

If Mett would fix the damn sleeves, we'd be golden. That's the ONLY issue with this team.

ND sucks. Should have lost to BYU yesterday. Next week, OU is going to kill them.

Bob, you almost sound like a Husker fan after yesterdays game against Northwestern. I'm really starting to loathe the Nebraska fan base, especially the sort of person who pays money to complain on a message board devoted to Husker Football. These are the same people who were in favor of the massive regime change that allowed Bill Callahan to be coach of the Huskers, and who still seem to think that the history of the program alone can persuade a quality coach from another BCS level school to jump ship for a job in Lincoln.
I’ve never seen so many people pissed off after a Husker win. They were still carrying on with the chicken little routine long after the game.
I’m a realist about the Cornhuskers this year, and the general state of the program. Pelini isn’t going anywhere for a few years, unless he decides himself to take a job elsewhere or to walk away after a bad season. He’s got too many years left on his contract to make a buyout feasible, and the new Athletic Director has said he won’t consider making any changes for at least a year.
Pelini will get a pass, even if he loses the remainder of the games this season. He’ll be on the hot seat next season if he finishes anything less than 9-3 this season anyway or gets blown out in a bowl game again, so most of husker nation should avoid supporting a Fire Pelini website until November 2013.
I don’t think the Irish have the horses on offense to stay with the Sooners, but the Notre Dame Defense should be able to hold the OU offense to less than 30, and I’ll just hope that Dawgs and Huskers play out of their minds next Saturday and smite both Michigan and Florida.

I don't buy that for one second, and normally I criticize a quality Bill Snyder coached team for feasting on cupcake teams early and choking against a ranked opponent in a highly publicized game by this point in the season.
West Virginia has an offense that as just as potent as the Ducks, and Kansas State managed to handle them rather easily,
Oklahoma has comparable speed and talent as Oregon, and Kansas State beat them too.
I still won't root for the Mildcats, but I think they could contend with any team ranked in the top ten and go at least .500 in those games at a neutral site.
With that said, I wouldn't put any money on them in a BCS title game against SEC opponent and would expect them to be a two touchdown underdog.

Oddly enough, it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if UGA came out on top next week. Gators are due for a fall. Hell, they should have lost at A&M a few weeks ago.

ND's defense is very solid, but their offense is 8th grade "B" team quality.

I WANT TO BELIEVE.

Sadly, I've seen our Run D. FT, the main difference in your thought process is that UF has continued to get better week to week and the Dawgs have regressed to the mean.

F it though. Line 'em up and see what happens.

And herein lies the problem with the Pac-12 scheduling their feature game at 7:30 PM PST - They are CLEARLY at LEAST the 2nd ranked team to the eyeball test to anyone who has seen them play this year, the problem there lying with the Computers used in the BCS, which don't have any eyes, and the vast majority of people on the Eastern and Central time zones who have already closed their eyes and turned off their TVs and gone to bed.

The Ducks really haven't had a game where they have been challenged beyond about 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter this year. Sure they haven't played many great teams yet, but they have curb stomped ALL of them - Every game they have played in the Pac 12 this year that was supposed to be a big challenge for the WASN'T. They beat a Arizona team 49-0 (that had just beat Oklahoma State 59-38 and has played a lot of the other teams in conference closely). To my knowledge the starters haven't played into the 4th quarter yet this year. They have outscored their opponents in the first half, 234-56. They were ahead of Arkansas State 50-3 at 12:50 in the second quarter(an Arkansas State team that won their conference last year and played in a bowl game).

And for people who haven't been paying attention over the last few years, Rodney is a Beaver and almost never has anything good to say for the Ducks - I can't imagine his comment above was easy for him to make, especially since his Beavers are still undefeated themselves.

And finally, the most INFURIATING PART of Kansas State passing the Ducks in the polling......Kansas State pulled out of a scheduled Home and Home with the Ducks this year....this hurting the Ducks strength of schedule. We would have already known how bad the Ducks would have curbed stomped them because that game would have already been played and we wouldn't have had to speculate.

FWIW, Patrick, I worked for a company that had an office in Manhattan, KS and once spent a month working there - So I follow Kansas State a bit more closely than your average fan - Yes, they beat a perennially over-ranked Oklahoma team, but they aren't even in the same hemisphere as the Ducks are this season.

Maybe you are right Bob, Ducks would get out ahead of K State by 40 late in the 2nd quarter, early 3rd quarter and then put in their 3rd and 4th stringers and would end up just cruising to a 20 point win. That's been the pattern all year.

I disagree. Kansas State's resume to date is more impressive than Oregon's. Their marquee wins (OU and WVU) are simply better than Oregons (Arizona & Washington). Also, KSU's out of conference win is solid as well (Miami).

Oregon is putting up video game numbers on offense and no one suggests they aren't great but it's not crazy to have KSU ahead at this point. They're going to get their chance to make their case with USC, Stanford, and OSU still on the schedule.

Hell, if anything, I think Bama is the one that leaves me scratching my head. They are the unanimous #1 and their only marquee win is over a #22 Michigan squad. The rest of their schedule to date has been TERRIBLE. Then again, their prove it run is coming up in the next 3 weeks with 3 straight ranked opponents.

A Weber State win over the Huskies is far from a marquee win, let alone for Oregon--Washington is awful.

I'd say the 49-0 win over an Arizona team that has also been putting up video game numbers along with the dominating win at ASU (leading 43-7 into the 2nd half) are their best W's.

I agree that KSU's 2 marquee wins are more impressive, although beating WVU is looking less and less impressive as the weeks go by. And the Miami win isn't really that impressive but given the Duck's cupcake OOC schedule it wins by default.

I've seen both teams play at least twice and think Oregon would beat KSU on a neutral field but not by 40. If the Ducks run the table, winning at SC, home to Stanford and probably SC again in the P12 Title game, they'll be in the MNC game come January. I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose at SC though.

And I feel for Colorado.

The Ducks will probably hang 80 on them this coming week given the perceived snubbing from the BCS.
